Welcome to the memorial page of Allen K. Butcher, professional trumpeter and music teacher/mentor to many students. This page includes his life story, pictures, comments by those that knew him, and information on the scholarship in his name.
We want to let family, friends, colleagues, and students know how much Allen loved and appreciated you, and how much we, his family, appreciate the love and joy you brought to his life.

Allen’s professional life was widely varied. Through his career he taught a wide range of music courses at all levels, from kindergarten to university, with success at each. He also enjoyed a highly successful trumpet career, covering a wide range of styles.
Allen treated each school assignment, and each trumpet performance (with corresponding style), with a consistent high professional regard.
Allen’s family asked him to write out a description of his career several years ago.
These five pages are scanned copies of notes written by Allen describing his career.
A concert, the Allen K. Butcher Musical Celebration, was held on July 10, 2006 in the Music Hall of the Arts and Communication Building on the UW-Oshkosh campus. A wonderful collection of family, friends, colleagues, and students of Allen participated in, or attended, the event. Thank you to everyone for making the concert a very special moment.
Allen believed that music education was a way to promote a deeper understanding of music, and therefore a deeper appreciation for, and love of this wonderful art form. With this in mind, please consider donating to the Allen K. Butcher Scholarship Fund. This scholarship is to be awarded to a wind or percussion music education student at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Make checks payable to the Allen K. Butcher Scholarship Fund.
